Piroska Bata
In the Beginning…
Piroska’s passion for understanding humanity has deep roots in her early years as her family travelled throughout Europe. This gave her an opportunity before the age of eleven to learn three languages and explore different cultures, their songs, stories and dances. She came to Canada in her mid-teens and now considers Canada home. However, she sees the world as a global village with the opportunity to explore the wonder that is all around us and see all the beauty that lies in every human being.
Medical and Holistic Health
Piroska’s formal education began at McMaster University where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude, and this is where she was introduced by one of her Professors to Therapeutic Touch. She became intrigued with energy work and has not looked back, since then she became a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner, Reiki Master/Teacher, studied the Yuen Method and Biogenesis among other healing modalities. As she was learning, she was also able to apply these methods in the hospital setting as Registered Nurse, spending 19 years in Burn/Trauma and Neuro-Trauma/Medical-Surgical Intensive/Critical care.
Sharing Knowledge
Piroska has a passion for passing on information and inspiring other nurses, and started to teach at colleges and universities in the GTA. Receiving her Licensed Practitioner and Master Practitioner Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was of great benefit to her students learning. She also consulted for NLP Possibilities with DHE teaching ‘Introduction to NLP’ and taught for New Beginnings healthy eating/exercise and stress management to women on welfare in 2006 to 2007.
Karate and Self Defense
While studying and working as a single mom, she also worked towards her Black Belt in Karate. She has studied Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Shotokan, Tai Kwan Do, Escrima, Occidental Martial Arts, Jiu Jitsu, Grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Goju Ryu and Weapons. She developed and taught programs for women’s self –defense, safety for public health nurses, and taught general weapons and self-defense courses as Partner in Close Quarter Academy. She continues to train in Karate and is working towards her second degree black belt.
Professional Coaching
Her love of athletics and motivational coaching led her to study at Adler International studies to become a professional coach. She worked out of a TCHPP (The Centre for Healing and Personal Potential) in Pickering as a Professional Coach for a year. This was also a time of great discovery into different aspects of Nursing, which led her to explore administration and management in the health care system, where she wrote policies to empower patients and for nurses to be able to use complimentary therapies to assist their patients. This lead to her studies in International Executive Business and Management.
True Passion
Even with all of Piroska’s experience, the love of helping, healing and motivating and empowering clients there was a strong urge to continue with her studies in Neuro-Semantic Programming (NSP), with further studies in NSP Hypnosis and Psychotherapy with the founders of Neuro-Semantic Programming. She was also the Chair for the NSP Hypnosis Study group. All the while she practiced Buddhist meditation and Shamanic Journey-ing. Her interest in trance states continues as she is planning to research this area of human potential.
Transmuting Tragedy to Help Others
Over the years as she studied and worked as a Registered Nurse tragedy struck and her father suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury after an explosion at work. She has been a strong advocate for brain injury survivors by fundraising to promote research and better care. Piroska has been the co-chair of the fundraising committee for BIAC’s Hawaiian Oyster Odyssey, partnering with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Hospital. She has been the special guest and speaker with Ministers and well known Brain researchers at these fundraisers.
Today
Piroska continues her study of martial arts, Neuro-Semantic and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, psychotherapy and psychology. Attends monthly tutorials with both NLP Possiblities and with DHE and The No Y-ian Society to tune up skills for continuous improvement and learning. She is an avid weight-lifter, swimmer and loves to hike or mountain bike exploring new trails. She enjoys spending time with her son and family including family pets.
Her passion is to truly create models of healing that are based on respect, integrity, dignity, and humanity. Yet remain curious with a child like wonder.
